My Perspective Changed Completely
Before I entered the holiday home industry, my perception of caravans was probably much the same as many people's.
Growing up, one of my favourite family holidays was in Mallaig in the Scottish Highlands with my older sister. I still remember us spending hours playing Pontoon and Gin Rummy, using matchsticks to keep score. Looking back, those simple evenings are some of the happiest memories of my childhood.
The caravan itself was very much of its time. It had thin tin walls, a gas fire that kept us warm on cooler Highland evenings, and none of the modern luxuries you'd expect today.
Yet those holidays remain some of the very best I've ever had.
Many years later, after living in China and working as an English teacher, I eventually found my way into the holiday home industry. The first time I stepped inside one of the latest generation of holiday homes, I was genuinely astonished.
I couldn't believe how much they had evolved.
Gone were the compact layouts and basic interiors I remembered from childhood. Instead, I found bright open-plan living spaces, beautifully designed kitchens, comfortable furniture and interiors that felt more like a contemporary apartment than a traditional holiday caravan.
It completely changed my perception of what a holiday home could be.
Even now, after years of welcoming visitors into holiday homes, I still see exactly the same reaction on people's faces that I had myself.
"I had no idea they looked like this nowadays."
And I completely understand why.

I remember the excitement of being away together as a family.
Those are memories I'll carry with me forever.
Today's holiday homes simply allow families to create those same unforgettable moments, but with all the comforts of modern living.
To me, that's the biggest improvement of all.
